The idea and thought process behind what we made is this would be a rover or similar craft that can pick items up from the ocean floor or on the ground and bring it back to the user. Using a mold shown on the previous slide, we could simulate the movement of an octopuses tentacle while incorporating the soft robotic aspect. However, we made this robot for underwater, the use of it can go beyond the depths of the ocean. The uses of the soft robotic retrieval mechanism can be used on drones for construction, mining or even cleaning up trash.
